Ski/Snowboard Club

WHAT: The ski and snowboard team is a fun and competitive group of skiers and snowboarders at the high school.  Any boy/girl intermediate skier or boarder is encouraged to come out.  Racers are timed down the mountain in a slalom style event.  Racers have 2 runs to go between 10 gates as fast as possible.  Over 14 high schools from WNC compete with over 150 racers each season.  Individual as well as team results are compiled over the season.

WHEN: The season starts the first week in January and continues until March.  We race at Cataloochee Ski area every Wednesday night at 6PM.  Parents are encouraged to attend and ski.

COST: $150 which provides a pass for every Wednesday night.  Or students can pay for an evening lift ticket each night.  

EQUIPMENT:  Transportation is not provided so students must drive themselves, ride with another student or a parent!  Helmets and Goggles are required of all racers.

RESULTS: The NBSH snowboard team has placed 1st in 2004, 2005 and 2006.  Top 5 finishers have included Angela Erb, Kelsey Mitchell, Will Walker, and Dillon Smith from previous years.
