From farm animals to race cars, young students got an up-close look at the many ways agriculture impacts their everyday lives during Agricultural Day at North Buncombe High School (NBHS). 

Second graders from elementary schools across the North Buncombe district, along with students from the NBHS Learning Lab PreK, visited the high school for a day filled with hands-on learning and plenty of excitement. 

Throughout the event, students rotated through different stations where they met farm animals, learned about where their food comes from, explored career opportunities, and discovered the important role agriculture plays in their community. The experience gave students a chance to connect what they learn in the classroom with the farms, businesses and people who help produce the food and products they use every day. 

One of the highlights of the day was the chance to get an up-close look at a race car, showing students how areas such as mechanics, technology and engineering can connect with skills taught through agriculture education. 

The event was also a great opportunity for North Buncombe High School FFA (Future Farmers of America) students to welcome young learners to their campus and share their knowledge with the next generation. 

Agriculture Day brought learning to life while giving some of Buncombe County Schools’ youngest students a fun look at the animals, careers and industries that help keep our communities growing.
