I am native of Weaverville, and graduate of North Buncombe High School. After earning my Bachelor of Arts in History, with a minor in Psychology, at Mars Hill College, I went on to East Tennessee State University for graduate school in history. I attended Mississippi State University to complete a second Bachelors degree in Psychology. I went on to earn a Masters degree in Education Administration and another Masters degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University. I am certified to teach in both North and South Carolina in: Education Administration, Special Education K-12, and Special Education:Emotionally Disabled (SC).

After leaving Weaverville for many years, I have returned to my hometown to teach at my beloved Alma Mater, good ole' NB High! The majority of my teaching career has been in the low country of South Carolina. I taught at Colleton County High School in Walterboro and at Summerville High School (near Charleston). I have taught Resource, Emotionally Disable Self-Contained, in the Occupational Credential Program, and currently in the Occupational Course of Study and EC here at North Buncombe.

This Fall semester I teach: Inclusion English I, with Mrs. Newman  and  two sections of American History: Founding Principles , Civics and Economics.

This is my 20 year of teaching. I have been married to my college sweetheart for 27 years and we have 4 children. I enjoy camping, outdoor activities, cooking, canning, gardening and taking care of my chickens!
