Welcome Parents, Students, and Interested Parties!

As indicated above, my name is Mike Bowman. I have been a teacher for something in the neighborhood of 17 years. Prior to that I was a physicist in the oil industry, and it is that experience that shaped much of the “how’s and why’s” of my teaching methods. I believe strongly that students must be given the opportunity to think-think-think while engaged in the processes of doing science. I believe that lab activities are an essential component of science education, but those experiences can not be ‘canned’ labs wherein students simply follow directions … instead the activity must require students to interject their own skills and intellect into the process. In short, students must be allowed to discover and experience science.
