Freshman Health and Physical Education
This course introduces the fundamental concepts of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  Students will be able to use the information they learn to make intelligent decisions with regard to their health and well-being. During Physical Education students will learn life skills such as how to get along with others, utilize good sportsmanship, and work together in a team environment.  We will focus on improving students overall health and fitness by incorporating a variety of games, workouts, and fitness concepts.

 Class Rules/Expectations

  1. Students must be inside the gym doors and seated in roll call spots before the tardy bell rings or will be marked tardy. Students have 7 minutes to dress out after dismissal from roll call. Take care of all bathroom needs before coming up to gym!
  2. Students are highly advised not to share PE lockers! Rental locks are available for $5. Locks must be returned at the end of each semester. No personal locks will be allowed. All personal valuables must be locked up. The PE department is not responsible for stolen items! Any lost lock will cost $5.
  3. Class will consist of dynamic stretches, exercises, and daily game/fitness activity.
  4. At the end of class students will have 10 minutes to dress back into school clothing, take showers (if desired), and must remain inside the GYM until the bell rings for class dismissal. Locker rooms will be locked after 10 minutes. Leaving the gym without permission will result in a disciplinary referral!
  5. Report any accidents/injuries to your PE teacher.
  6. NO GUM, FOOD or DRINKS allowed in the gym at any time, water only.
  7. NO CELL PHONES, or any other electronic devices allowed in the gym. First time warning, second time phone will be collected and given back at end of class, and third time items will be turned into office for parent pick up.
  8. Students not dressed out for PE will be required to power off cell phones and place cell phones in a box. This box will be locked, and phones returned to students at the end of class.
  9. Any physical condition such as asthma, diabetes or any other medical conditions need to be brought to the teacher’s attention. A doctor’s note is required for sick or injured student’s sitting out of PE for a length of one day or more. Parent notes not accepted. 
  10. All PE classes are required to dress into different clothing other than what was worn to school that day! You are considered dressed out ONLY when dressed into appropriate physical activity attire with tennis shoes! Students are not to wear PE clothes over the top of regular school clothing or under school clothing. No boots, flip flops, sandals or slip on shoes will be allowed on the gym floorNo spandex shorts, or shorts shorter than mid thigh. Sweatpants are allowed if they were not worn to school. Students inappropriately dressed will be required to change immediately. Students can rent one loaner uniform or pair of tennis shoes per 9 weeks for $1. Loaners must be returned at the end of the class period. A limited amount of NB uniforms are available for purchase at $5/item while supplies last.
  11. Students are highly encouraged to take PE clothes home every Friday or once a week to get washed.

 Consequences for not dressing out

1st time/2nd time- Teacher warning/walk the gym/health book work

3rd time – Parent contacted/walk the gym/health book work

4th time- Student referral/Walk the gym/health book work

5th time or thereafter-Student referral
