Master Chief Edward Moreno enlisted in the Navy on October 15, 1985. He completed Recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL and Aviation Boatswain's Mate "A" School in Lakehurst, NJ.
Master Chief Moreno retired at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune as the Command Master Chief in November 2015 with over 30 years of service to our great nation. Upon retirement he transitioned to a civilian position as the Veterans Experience Officer at the Charles George VA Medical Center. In June 2017, he became the Naval Science Instructor for North Buncombe H.S. and is now a proud Black Hawk!

During his career, he completed 11 deployments to the North Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea, Arabian Gulf, Western Pacific and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. While deployed, he has participated in Operation Allied Force for the liberation of Kosovo, Operation Enduring Freedom, and CTF 58 while conducting Maritime Security Operation in the North Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He deployed with the Navy Expeditionary Guard as the Joint Detention Group Command Master Chief, conducting detention operations supporting JOINT TASK FORCE-Guantanamo. He was influential in developing expanded training and detailing initiatives enhancing mission readiness and the successful transition of SH-60B Seahawk to SH-60R platform while assigned as COMHELMARSTRIKEWINGPAC CMC.

He was instrumental in achieving record patient and staff satisfaction scores by enhancing patient experience initiatives and mentoring programs. He was a key leader and advisor for the Executive Leadership Team at the Charles George VA Medical Center(CGVAMC) overseeing Veteran Experience and Patient Satisfaction efforts. During his tenure, CGVAMC earned a 5 STAR rating and recognized as one of the best VA’s in the country.

Command Master Chief Moreno is a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 105 Gold) and KEYSTONE Command Senior Enlisted Leader Course. He attended National Defense University for Joint Studies and Military Leadership.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
