North Carolina Graduation Project Overview

In order to get credit for English IV, you must complete all components of the NCGP:
1) 5-8 page research paper (standard classes); 8-10 page research paper (Honors classes)
2) Website Portfolio
3) 8-10 minute speech to the community
 The average of these three components along with your "Practical Experience" grade must average at least a 60.

NCGP Components
- 5 - 8 pages (Standard): 8-10 pages (Honors) -  double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font
- Minimum of 5 sources: 1 must be mentor interview, 2 must be non-internet sources
- MLA documentation
- Topic outline
- Works cited page
- Free from plagiarism (result:  automatic failure on paper)
  • Practical Experience
  • - Must be related to research
  • - Minimum of 10 hours: Must have a minimum of 3 hours and 3 contacts with mentor.
  • - Time logs required as documentation of hours
  • - Photographic record of project progress suggested (show different stages of your project, product, and your learning)
  • - Falsification of any kind during the NCGP process will be dealt with by the Graduation Project Committee and can result in failure of the course

  • Presentation
    - Project Overview completed for judges 
    - 5-8 minute time limit
    - Judged on content, delivery, and product
    - Project assignments count as 30% of each nine weeks grade

    Website Portfolio

    - Website created via Weebly, Wix, Google Sites, etc.
    - Written blogs that correspond with practical experience time logs
    - Photographs documenting project progress
    - Mentor and research paper
